KBIS and IBS thrive with joint event in Las Vegas

Massachusetts guild seeks entries for scholarships

massguildThe Berkshire Woodworkers Guild is accepting scholarship applications from students pursuing a career in woodworking or architecture. The guild, a group of professional woodworkers who live and work in the vicinity of Berkshire County in western Massachusetts, will be giving away two $500 scholarships. Although the amount isn’t terribly high, every little bit counts, according to guild president Will Beemer.

Study says artists aren’t prepared for mishaps

The Craft Emergency Relief Fund recently released the results of a national research study called “Sustaining Careers: A Study of the Status of U.S. Craft Artists.” The study reveals artists’ attitudes about trends affecting the field, sales and income, insurance, emergency preparedness and recovery and legacy planning. It also provides updates and comparison data to a 2004 study.
