Home sales show signs of a rebound

Sales of newly built, single-family homes rose 6.6 percent in September to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 307,000 units, the best pace since June, according to data released in late October by the U.S. Commerce Department.

Robert Studdard, a wood manufacturing design instructor at Rolla Technical Institute in Rolla, Mo., was selected as Educator of the Year by WoodLINKS U.S.A. The annual award goes to a high school shop instructor who has surpassed what peer industry leaders expect in today's classroom.

IWF 2010 was ‘still viable’ despite dip

The total number of visitors to IWF 2010, including exhibitors and attendees, was 22,697, compared to 35,181 in 2008, according to officials numbers released in October. The drop was not alarming, says CEO Patrick LaFrambroise, who attributes the drop to the state of the economy.
