Woodmaster adds power to combo machine

Woodmaster has taken its professional combination machine, the Extreme Duty Woodmaster 725, to a higher level. The 25" planer/molder/sander/saw, previously offered with a 7.5-hp motor and three-knife HSS cutterhead, is now available with a 10-hp motor and spiral cutterhead. A double-router attachment for three-sided molding is sold as an accessory. The combo machine is designed for constant use in small- and medium-sized cabinet and millwork shops.

VacuClamp pods provide a strong hold

Vacuum Pressing Systems Inc., a manufacturer of vacuum bag systems and vacuum presses, has introduced its two-sided VacuClamp pods designed to hold work pieces firmly for sanding and routing applications. Each 4" x 4" x 5/8" aluminum vacuum pod has a spring-loaded release valve for independent two-sided clamping, and a removable plug for permanent mounting. The two-sided suction pods provide a clear work surface and eliminate the need for clamps.

Steel City 13" planer has helical cutterhead

Steel City Tool Works has introduced a patented helical cutterhead to its 13" portable planer, the first company to include that feature as standard fare. The 2" diameter cutterhead has 26 indexable HSS (high-speed steel) inserts, with each knife having four cutting sides.

ShopBot releases Retro Z axis upgrade

ShopBot Tools has developed an aftermarket accessory, the Retro Z Axis, that replaces the old-style Z axis assembly on ShopBot’s PR and PRT CNC models manufactured until 2006. The new Z axis is the same as the one used on ShopBot’s current PRS line of tools and greatly increases rigidity and accuracy of the older machines, according to Gordon Bergfors, the company’s development director.
