Innovation+Design (I+D), organized by the International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD), is receiving strong interest from the next generation of makers and designers.

“It is exciting to see how the Innovation+Design event has grown over the past five years,” says David Blair, executive director of ISFD, of the juried competition and exhibition.

“This year alone we had an 18 percent overall increase over last year in the number of submissions from both professionals and students and we are seeing submissions from many new designers. In addition, the quality of the submissions this year is remarkably creative, making winning the competition even more notable.”

I+D is open to professional makers/designers who create their own products and woodworking students who are anticipating a career in the custom wood and related home furnishings industries. Finalists get to show their work at the spring High Point Market.

Professional and amateur woodworkers can apply to participate in the Minnesota Woodworkers Guild’s Northern Woods Exhibition, scheduled for April 25-28 at the Eden Prairie Center in Eden Prairie, Minn.

Show participants display their work and compete for 16 prizes in 13 categories. The entry deadline is April 14. Apply and learn more at mnwwg.org.
