An attendance promotion has begun for the 2009 AWFS fair in Las Vegas, which the producers say will feature the strongest educational program in the trade show’s history.
This year’s show will also feature a Green Desk, where attendees can drop by to ask questions related to sustainable practices, certifications and regulations affecting the industry. The Green Desk, which will be prominently located at the show, will be hosted by nationally recognized environmental organizations as well as industry associations with sustainable programs.
AWFS’ College of Woodworking Knowledge has been expanded to include a Going Green track, a timely series of seminars that will help attendees navigate the growing world of environmentally driven initiatives. The educational program will also include several forward-thinking topics to prepare businesses to work smarter, such as Positioning your Company for a Future in Manufacturing, Implementing the CARB Rule, new UV technologies, and a series of lean manufacturing seminars.
The AWFS Fresh Wood Student Competition already has 15 high schools and universities registered to participate, including several new to the competition. This year’s judges include representatives from Steel Case, OFS Brands and Ethan Allen.
The 2009 AWFS fair is scheduled for July 15-18 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For information regarding the show, housing and registration, visit www.awfsfair.org.
