Virginia Tech will host the International Scientific Conference on Hardwood Processing Oct. 16-18 in Blacksburg, Va.
The conference will feature more than 60 presentations, leading industry speakers, market insights, an industry tour and opportunities to learn, discuss and network.
“We have an exciting program with contributions from all over the world, spanning the entire width of the hardwood industry from forest management to customer marketing,” says Urs Buehlmann, associate professor at Virginia Tech. “Four invited guest speakers — Mark Barford, president of the National Hardwood Lumber Association; Ed Pepke, senior timber trade analyst for the European Forest Institute; Alex Finkral, senior forester for The Forest Land Group, and Maud Hinchee, chief technology officer at ArborGen Inc. — will provide additional insights into the status of the industry, markets, certification and the future of the hardwood resource.
“Also, Michael Weinig Inc. and Jason Grant Consulting will provide hands-on industry insights and allow practitioners to learn from the experts.
