Twelve professional and student furniture designers/makers were honored in the fourth annual Innovation + Design Competition, hosted by the International Society of Furniture Designers (ISFD). Selected from 24 finalists, the winners were announced at a reception and exhibition held at the Art Gallery at Congdon Yards in High Point, N.C., on April 20.

“After seeing the amazing entries for this year’s competition, I realized that Innovation + Design is the perfect name for this event,” David Blair, executive director of ISFD, said in a statement. “The professional and student designer entries showed a high level of imagination and superior craftsmanship, making the judges’ challenging job of selecting the winners even more difficult.”

Supported by the ISFD’s furniture industry partners and a grant from the Earl and Kathryn Congdon Family Foundation, the competition is open to professional artisans who design and make their own products, as well as serious woodworking students who are anticipating a career in the custom wood and home furnishings industries.

The professional winners were Michael Jury, Bruce Schuettinger, Brian Boggs, Jeremy Kamiya, TiAnna DeGarmo, and Erika Cross.
