Schiffer Publishing has a new book on the history and use of spalted wood by Sarah C. Robinson, Hans Michaelsen and Julia C. Robinson.
“Spalted Wood: The History, Science, and Art of a Unique Material” goes back 700 years to the beginning of written records of spalting and follows its evolution from closely guarded guild secret to scientific curiosity to a mainstream art form, according to the publisher.
Robinson, founder of Northernspalting.com, presents an introductory guide to spalted woods from around the world. The book includes a supplier list.
