Rockler Woodworking and Hardware has introduced a drill guide and accessory vise that combine the control and precision of a stationary drill press with the portability of a handheld drill, according to the company.

“At 14-1/2" tall, the Portable Drill Guide is more robust than many other drill guides on the market. Steel guide posts provide heft and stability, and the beefy aluminum chuck carriage maintains alignment for smooth, accurate drilling,” the company said in a statement.

“While other guides typically have 3/8" chucks, the smooth ball-bearing chuck on the Portable Drill Guide fits bit shanks up to 1/2" in diameter. It offers more than 8" in spindle travel for deep drilling, and the large pass-through opening in the sturdy base allows drilling workpieces of virtually any length.”

The drill guide's chuck features a 1/4" hex shank at the other end that fits any handheld drill and works with quick-change chucks.

The guide also features a stop for setting drilling depth for repeat applications, as well as V-shaped supports in the base that center dowels and other round stock under the bit.

The Self-Centering Drill Vise can be combined with the Portable Drill Guide to hold workpieces up to 3" x 3" for drilling in any length of stock, according to the company.

The Rockler Portable Drill Guide is priced at $149.99, while the Self-Centering Drill Vise is priced at $99.99. Rockler also offers a package deal including both new products for $219.99.
