Smithsonian Craft Show focuses on Native American design

The 41st annual Smithsonian Craft Show, themed “Celebrating the American Spirit”, took place May 3-7 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

The 41st annual Smithsonian Craft Show, themed “Celebrating the American Spirit”, took place May 3-7 at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C.

The show featured a diverse selection of work from 120 juried exhibitors, including 13 Native American and Indigenous artists, representing all facets of contemporary craft and design.

Exhibiting furniture makers included John Cameron, Mark Del Guidice, Victor Dinovi, David Douyard, Mark Laub, Bruce Schuettinger, and Robert Wing.

The Smithsonian Women’s Committee produces the show and Cynthia Chavez Lamar, the first woman director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, was the honorary chair.
