The sixth annual Vermont Fine Furniture & Woodworking Festival, held Sept. 26-27 at the Union Arena in Woodstock, Vt., featured the wares of more than 45 Vermont woodworking companies ranging from high-end furniture and cabinetry to bowls and carvings.
More than 15 new companies joined the event this year. In addition to the many exhibitors inside there were numerous activities occurring outside. The demonstration tent was filled with woodworkers carving bowls, demonstrating inlay technique, weaving baskets, assembling wooden boats, and much more.
Once again, attendees had an opportunity to cast a vote for their favorite booth presentation and this year's award went to Jim and Billie Maas of Birds in Wood in Morgan, Vt. Maas, a retired surgeon born in Pennsylvania, has won numerous awards at various carving championships and his work has been featured in a recent publication, "Illustrated Birds of Prey."
