A 3-axis CNC router for $300

Monoprice, a producer of 3D printers and other electronics, introduces a 3-axis CNC router engraver/carver kit. The benchtop machine is an affordable option for DIY enthusiasts and professionals engraving or milling projects in wood and other materials, according to the company.

“The Monoprice CNC router kit is conveniently small in size and light in weight. It offers an easy USB interface for programming. It uses GRBL control systems. It is a perfect CNC router machine for beginners and pros,” the company said in a statement.

The machine, which requires some assembly, offers an 11.8” x 7.1” x 1.6” workspace, and is suitable for sign making, furniture parts, prototypes, molds, and templates, according to the company. It will machine wood, plastic, acrylic, and soft metals.

The Monoprice 3-axis CNC Router Kit, model 44420, sells for $299. It includes all base frame and motor parts for home assembly, as well as motor chucks, wiring harness, USB cable, power adapter and user manual.
