Cantek presents the DET Series of double-end tenoners, available with a diverse selection of processing units and custom-built machine frames that can house up to 14 working units.

“These machines are for fairly high production applications,” says Ryan Akhurst, vice president of Akhurst Machinery Ltd., a Cantek distributor based in Delta, B.C.

“They’re often used in door or furniture production where you’re looking to produce something in volume and it will basically square, size, and profile a piece all in one pass on both sides. The idea is that it’s very accurate. It has a digital controller where the opening is controlled by that, so you just key in your width, and it will automatically move into that position.”

Customers have the option to acquire the DET series as a standalone solution or as part of a production line, allowing for the automated processing of all four sides of a workpiece.

“They’re quite customizable depending on the customers’ requirements,” adds Akhurst.

“They can be purchased as an individual machine, or they can be purchased as a line. A double-end model will do two sides at a time, but a customer who wants to do four sides without handling the piece we can put that in the production line so it will do two sides then automatically transfer and do the other two sides, so it’s a fully completed workpiece as it comes out.”
