Cantek offers a new 10’ 1-axis sliding table saw, model D405ANC, with a programmable overhead control that allows the operator to automatically adjust the position of the rip fence, height of the blade, and angle of the blade. The saw’s numerically controlled rip fence is the most significant feature as it provides accuracy, repeatability and efficiency, according to the company.
“Typically, with a manually operated machine, each time the operator will walk around the table and adjust the fence, eyeball it into position and get it as accurate as they can. Whereas with this machine, they can just key in a list, hit start and automatically the fence will move into position. So there’s no guessing, it’s more precise, and it saves time,” says Ryan Akhurst, vice president of marketing for Akhurst Machinery, the North American distributor of Cantek machinery.
“When you’re building cabinets and cutting cabinet parts, which a lot of people do with this particular machine, you want the repeatability and accuracy. You want everything to be the same in size. So with the rip fence, it’s got a precision ball screw and it runs on a linear guide like a CNC machine. It can go back and forth all day and maintain that measurement very precisely.”
The saw has a 7.5-hp main motor, providing three blade speeds of 3,000, 4,000 and 5,000 rpm, and a separate 1-hp scoring motor.
It can run a 16” blade and offers a maximum cutting height of 5.12” at 90 degrees and 2.75” at 45 degrees. The maximum rip cutting width is 51”. The sliding table measures 126” x 15-1/2”, while the cast-iron fixed table is 21.6” x 35.3”.
Other features include motorized blade tilt and an electronic angle display on control panel, an aluminum-extruded crosscut fence, heavy-duty outrigger for workpiece support, and an overhead CE blade guard with dust port.
The saw starts at $16,300. An optional crosscut fence with digital displays is also available.
