Casadei Busellato revamps its edgebander

Casadei Busellato recently introduced the ALA 20 Plus edgebander to meet the diverse needs of small-shop custom manufacturers.

Product manager Thomas Tuck says the newly redesigned machine accepts thicker panels and has a heavier base for increased stability. “It’s a good solution for a small woodworking shop because it’s compact, affordable and flexible. It’s designed for someone that needs a lot of flexibility to do residential and commercial work, and for someone who needs to be able to have quick changeovers for running small batches of parts.”

The machine is capable of applying tape from 1 to 3 mm with the standard coil feed. Wood strips up to 5 mm can be applied with the optional strip feed.

Operation has been streamlined with a programmable logic controller, positioned on the infeed side, for all working units except the edge scarping unit.

Edging is applied with a hot-melt glue roller fed from a Teflon-coated glue pot.

The edgebander also features top, bottom and end trimmers; numerical readout for trimmer cutter adjustments and optional scraping and buffing units for finishing thick PVC.

The standard model runs on single-phase power and sells for about $18,000. A 3-phase option is available.
