The Felder Group USA hosted a customer in-house event at its U.S. headquarters in New Castle, Del., on Nov. 9-10, highlighted by the debut of its new Format 4 wide belt sander, the Finebrush 1353.
Initially presented at LIGNA in Germany earlier this year, the sander is now available in the U.S. and offers a host of features for high-capacity applications, says to the company.
“This is the first time [the Finebrush] has been in the U.S. It’s one of the new machines that Felder brought out and it’s huge to the industry, so we wanted to show it off in our Delaware office at the event. We had a specialist from Europe come in and demonstrate its capabilities,” says Felder’s Jesse Maynerich, also a machine specialist.
“The Finebrush is unique when compared to regular wide belt sanders due to the multi-directional brushing head. The machine not only sands flat surfaces but can also be used for profile sanding a five-piece cabinet door, for example. Denibbing for intercoat sanding is also a great benefit and would save a massive amount of time and money when compared to traditional hand sanding.”
The sander has a working width of approximately 53” (1350mm) and a workpiece height capacity of about 5.5” (140mm). Features include a touchscreen control and sanding brushes outfitted with two abrasive grits, allowing fine to intermediate lacquer sanding, for example, without a changeover.
