Grizzly Industrial’s new 12" sliding table saw, model G0674, has many of the features of the high-end European brand sliding table saws, but at a more attractive price point, according to the company. The Grizzly slider is manufactured at a German factory that has been in business for more than 80 years and features a one-piece cast-iron trunnion system.

“We believe our price will get [potential customers] thinking about Grizzly, and our reputation for successfully supplying large high-quality industrial machines such as wide belt sanders will inspire their confidence to consider this machine,” says Bill Crofutt, Grizzly quality control manager. “Some people will see the price and be skeptical, while others who know us will see it and say ‘They did it again.’ This is not a high-end saw that has features left off to get the price down, rather it is a high-end saw sold by Grizzly, loaded with quality construction and accessories.”

The 12" saw is powered by a main 6-hp 3-phase motor and also includes an independent 1-hp single-phase motor for the scoring blade. The main blade arbor is 1-1/4", has 0- to 45-degree tilt and operates at 4,000 rpm. The maximum depth of cut at 90 degrees is 4-1/4" and 3" at 45 degrees. The 4-3/4" scoring blade has an arbor of 20mm and also has a 0- to 45-degree tilt.

The quality of the bearings and the rails goes a long way in determining a sliding table saw’s performance, durability and longevity. The Grizzly sliding table is manufactured with anodized aluminum and rolls on hardened bearings and hardened prismatic tracks.

“Even the telescoping support rolls on bearings,” Crofutt says. “We understand the importance of extreme high-quality parts in this area and used the best available. It was hard not to be impressed at IWF when we demonstrated cutting off paper-thin slices 8' long with virtually no change in thickness along the length. The use of very high-quality bearings and tracks are the only way to get this kind of accuracy.”

The saw’s features include a European-style riving knife, tilt and elevation hand wheels located on the “work side” of the table, and a cast-iron fence body mated with an aluminum two-position fence with optional digital readout.

The main table with extension wings is 53-1/2" x 65-3/8", and the 12-1/4" x 126" sliding table has a maximum ripping width with standard rip fence of 22-7/8" and a maximum cross-cutting width of 109-7/8 and length of 124".

This saw is perfect for shops, regardless of the size, that work a lot with sheet goods, notes Crofutt. “The ease and accuracy which this saw can cut reduces waste not only in material, but in time lost due to inaccurate cuts. It will work equally well on any type of wood product whether it’s solid, plywood or MDF.”

The Grizzly 12" sliding table saw, model G0674, weighs 937 lbs. and sells for $9,450.
