Maksiwa, a woodworking machinery manufacturer founded 40 years ago in Brazil, has revamped its compact 12” sliding panel saw, model BMS 1600.IR.

The saw features a 5-hp main motor and a 63” x 14” anodized aluminum sliding table with a European-style 41” rip fence that offers micro-adjustment and digital readout.

“The 1600 is a very compact sliding saw,” says Vitor Saar, Maksiwa’s director of sales. “The main ones you see [from competitors] are 10’ long and that requires a lot of room, and a lot of the shops throughout the country don’t have much space to operate a full sliding panel saw.

“Still, they want to have all the advantages and features that a sliding panel saw has compared to a regular table saw. So, in that case, the 1600 comes in very handy just because it’s pretty much half the size of the full 10’ long slider.”

The redesigned machine also has adjustable leveling feet, dual blade covers, two flip stops, integrated dust collection with a swing away arm, and new user-friendly control panel, according to the company.

The machine’s collapsed dimension is 66” x 98” x 42”.

The Maksiwa BMS 1600.IR sells for $5,845 and includes a 12” blade and 4-3/4” scoring blade.
