Nederman, a provider of air filtration solutions, unveiled three new ‘smart’ filtration products at the IWF in August, designed to enhance efficiency and safety in woodshop operations using automated technology. They include the S-Series dust collector with the S-Shaker upgrade, LBR SmartFilter and myAir service platform.

S-Series units are enclosure-free and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) compliant, and suitable for industrial dust collection, according to the company. They are compatible with the new S-Shaker, an optional system that can be programmed to vibrate the filter bags to ensure dust is thoroughly removed at timed intervals.

“Dust collectors are often not installed in convenient locations, so when people are going to clean the bags and service them, it could be dangerous. They’re either hanging over things or leaning over things, so using the Shaker to clean them is going to be safer,” Travis Haynam, vice president of segments for Nederman, told Woodshop News at the show.

“With this, workers are going to focus less on maintaining the product and spend more time doing their regular job. It’s a great idea, when a company changes their filters, that they install the new Shaker system because it’s going to extend bag life, improve the quality of extraction, the bags are cleaner and there’s going to be more air.”

The LBR SmartFilter combines Nederman’s energy efficient baghouse technology with its Insight IoT (Internet of Things) platform. The product includes sensors on critical system components, including fans, variable frequency drives, combustible dust isolation valves, material handling systems, and more. The myAir concept is a subscription service and combines the LBR SmartFilter with cloud-based software for proactive system monitoring.
