Lamello U.S.A. introduces a new detachable connector, the Clamex S-20, that fits into a slot made with a common biscuit joiner.
The Clamex S-20 is similar to Lamello’s Clamex P-System connector but doesn’t require a CNC router or Zeta P2 machine to machine the slot.
“It opens it up to everybody that’s got a wood biscuit joiner that makes a 4mm slot that this connector takes, and it comes with installation tools where you can push it right into place,” says Chris Hoffman, the product manager for Lamello U.S.A., a division of Colonial Saw.
The connectors are suitable for a wide range of applications, including residential and commercial furniture, interior fittings, exhibition stands, and more. The connectors can be used with both solid wood and panel materials, according to the manufacturer.
“The narrow design of the S-20 allows installation in very thin materials, with miter joints possible in material as thin as 14mm or in butt joints with material as thin as 8mm. The connectors can also be used for angle connections from 30 to 180 degrees,” the manufacturer explains in its literature.
Hoffman describes the S-20 as an “appetizer” for other Lamello products.
“The intention is that people get used to using the concept of an invisible RTA connector system and once they see the functionality of it, they graduate to the P-System and take advantage of that because the P-System is definitely more versatile,” he says.
