Oneida Air introduces the Dust Deputy 2.5 cyclone pre-separator, a larger version of the original Dust Deputy, designed to accommodate more powerful vacuums with 2-1/2” diameter hoses.
With the ability to deliver twice the airflow of other cyclone and lid-style separators, it’s ideal for woodworking activities that generate dust at a rapid pace, such as sanding, sawing, jointing and planning, according to the company.
“Shop vacuums have become more powerful, with more cfm, and are supplied with larger diameter 2-1/2” hoses, while woodworking benchtop tools are equipped with dust ports designed for these vacuums. A new Dust Deputy pre-separator was needed to accommodate more airflow and plug and play with the woodworking equipment that’s out there now,” says Oneida president Robert Witter.
Like its predecessor, once attached to a wet/dry vacuum, centrifugal force pre-separates and directs 99 percent of dust and debris from the airstream and into the waste canister before it reaches the filter, helping prevent clogs and suction loss to keep systems running efficiently and increasing the lifespan of the filter.
The 2.5 model stands 15.5” tall and has an inlet and outlet designed to friction fit standard 2-1/2” hose cuffs. For existing Dust Deputy customers who want to upgrade their system, the new model is equipped with the same base and hole pattern as the original, according to the company.
The Dust Deputy 2.5 sells for $54.95 as a DIY version. The Dust Deputy 2.5 Plus version sells for $79.95 and includes a quick-release bucket lid and 5’-1/2” cuffed hose. Both versions include a cyclone, gasket and hardware.
