Paslode’s nailer promises less wood splitting

Paslode’s new angled 16-gauge pneumatic finish nailer, model T250A-F16, is designed for an extensive variety of finish applications.

It uses 16-gauge angled finish nails ranging from 1-1/4" to 2-1/2". The tool is an addition to Paslode’s existing line of finish nailers, which includes pneumatic and cordless 16-gauge straight finish nailers and 18-gauge brad nailers.

Paslode marketing manager Jacek Romanski says the major highlight of the T250A is the unique angled magazine.

“Typically angled finish nailers available today use a 15-gauge size finish nail — a larger gauge. We were able to develop a pneumatic tool that uses 16-gauge finish nails. After all, 16-gauge straight finish nailers are the most popular type of finish nailer,” says Romanski. “However, the 16-gauge finish nail leaves a smaller hole than the 15-gauge version, which allows for less wood splitting and better aesthetics. Little to no filling is required because it’s such a small hole.”

The smaller tool increases maneuverability for the user, because it’s lighter and smaller than the 15-gauge, and it can get into tight areas, he explained, adding that durability is also a big feature of the tool.

“It’s designed for all finishing applications, any type of door and window casings, baseboards, etc. Where it really shines is in crown molding because of the angled nature of the tool.”

Another highlight is the “quick clear” mechanism in the case of nail jams. There’s also a two-step follower that allows for faster and easier nail loading. “You just put the nails in from the back, pull back the follower, and you’re ready to go,” says Romanski.

The T250A-F16 sells for $199. It is available through authorized Paslode retail outlets nationwide.
