Powermatic introduces the model PM2200 cyclone dust collector, featuring HEPA filtration and a 2-hp, 230-volt, single-phase motor that moves up to 1,543 cu. ft. of air per minute, according to the company.

“The new PM Cyclone is our premium dust filtration system that separates both large particles and collects fine dust through its HEPA filter,” says product manager Tobias Bridges.

“Cyclone dust collectors use a cone that circulates the air at a very fast rate, which allows larger wood chips to drop into a collector, as the smaller particles are pulled up into the funnel and put through a fine filter and collection bag. Bag-style dust collectors work on straight suction, but without the added benefit of separating.”

Powermatic’s auto-cleaning HEPA filter traps 99.97 percent of all particles from the air at a size of 0.3 micron, according to Bridges.

“That size particle is not visible to the human eye. It’s the smallest dust we don’t see that is most harmful to us,” he says.

Other standard features include a one-handed drum release lever and vacuum pressure gauge.

The mobile collector has one 8” and three 4” ports.

“The new PM2200 cyclone is ideal for any size shop. Having three 4” ports means you can run up to three machines or use the 8” port for shop piping,” adds Bridges.

The PM2200 sells for $2,999.
