The Furniture Society and the American Association of Woodturners are planning a joint symposium June 22-25 at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Mo.
The two groups usually conduct separate annual meetings, but have decided to merge this year on a trial basis.
“We are very excited about this first-ever joint meeting opportunity with our turning friends,” The Furniture Society executive director Bill Hinman says. “It’s a great way for Furniture Society members to expand their horizons, explore new design paradigms and share expertise and enthusiasm with a new audience.”
The symposium will split into two programs, led by The Furniture Society on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. AWW presentations will close the event. Attendees are invited to both programs.
The Furniture Society has about 750 members and Hinman hopes 150 to 200 will attend. The AWW, which has about 15,000 members, expects to draw an additional 1,200 to 1,500 attendees.
The joint symposium is open to all.
