The New ShopBot Desktop MAX ATC

ShopBot Opens the Door to Automation for Smaller Shops

ShopBot Tools, Inc. has re-envisioned its popular Desktop MAX ATC to automate production work and deliver the perfect cut all day long. The 36” x 24” cutting area offers woodshops an open-bed design with several deck options that can be swapped out based on needs. There’s a universal vacuum hold-down deck with a plenum and bleeder board, or a slotted aluminum deck that can be partially or completely removed for edge work, or a low slotted aluminum deck that delivers an additional 4” of vertical clearance for thicker materials.

The new Desktop MAX ATC V2 model accommodates seven ER-20 toolholders for bits with shanks up to a 1/2” diameter. The removable toolbar allows for cutting on long materials that extend off the bed of the machine, or for switching full sets of cutters as needed for specific jobs. Seven collets are included and these are available in 1/8" to 1/2” or corresponding metric sizes. Vectric’s VCarve Pro CAD/CAM software and ShopBot CNC Control System Software are also included with each tool purchase, along with training options and the company's outstanding technical support.

The new Desktop MAX ATC is ideal for smaller shops looking to automate, as it requires only 110-Volt standard household current and a compressor that can deliver just 4 CFM @90 PSI. It ships fully assembled, and fleet pricing is available. It starts at $16,820 and can also be purchased as a Work Station (all-in-one solution) that includes a full enclosure, a steel stand, and a dedicated computer. The ShopBot Edge Clamp Joinery Jig (which facilitates precise and repeatable dovetails, finger joints, plus mortise & tenon joinery) is one of several optional accessories designed to optimize the machine’s performance.

ShopBot tools are designed and built in Durham, North Carolina. The company is the first Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in the state, and that empowers ShopBot employees to move the company forward for the benefit of the business, the ShopBot community, and digital fabrication interests at large.
